Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Assistant Job Type: Part-time, Seasonal (Summer)
Wage: $15.00/hr Location: South Transcona Community Centre
Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and reliable Grounds Maintenance Assistant to join our Green Team for the summer season. As a Grounds Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the appearance and safety of our outdoor spaces. This is a great opportunity for students who are looking to gain valuable work experience and develop practical skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
Applicants must be between the ages of 16-29 years old
Cut grass using a variety of tools and equipment, including push and riding mowers
Pull weeds and remove debris from outdoor spaces
Trim bushes, trees, and hedges using shears, pruners, and other tools
Operate heavy machinery, including tractors, excavators, and other equipment, as needed
Paint structures and outdoor furniture, as needed
Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
Ability to work alone and unsupervised in various weather conditions
Ability to work as part of a team for larger multi-person projects
Experience using lawn maintenance equipment is a plus
Good communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Hours and Compensation: This is a part-time, seasonal position, with a flexible schedule based on the needs of the organization. The rate of pay will be competitive and based on experience.
